Recent reports from the RAC have highlighted some interesting developments in the fuel market. Despite a decrease in petrol prices – falling from 146.7p to 140.6p per litre last month, and diesel dropping by 5p from 154.3p to 149.2p – the savings aren’t as substantial as they could be. These price levels, reminiscent of the period before the Ukraine crisis, suggest that prices at the pumps should be lower. The RAC points out that the average supermarket margin on fuel was 13p per litre last month, more than double the figure in 2021.
